Originally born in Providence, RI into a family of four, James relocated to Honolulu at the age of 3. James was brought up by his loving parents who emigrated from Hong Kong and Taiwan to make a living in the states. His father, a classic example of the rags-to-riches overseas physician, instilled a strict work ethic in James from the start.
James graduated from Iolani School and moved on to the University of California, Davis where he earned his Bachelors of Science. Majoring in 'Managerial Economics' and minoring in 'Computer Information Systems,' James was very active in the college community. At UC Davis, he learned organization, responsibility, and management skills as the president of the UCD Hawaii Club for 3 years. During his final two years at college, James was fortunate to lead a team of 20 teaching assistants as the head teaching assistant of a computer applications course.
After graduation, James returned to the islands and began working as an appraisal-assistant for a well respected real estate appraisal company. Here, he gained a strong knowledge base on the numbers behind Hawaii real estate. After a year, James went on to pursue a sales career as a realtor initially at Century21 All Islands then finally to Prudential Locations LLC.
James Chan has been one of the youngest associates with Prudential Locations LLC since 2004, loving every second of his professional career. James has not only discovered a flawless support team at the Prudential Locations, but has also found a family of lifetime friends. He follows closely behind the guidance of several Partners of the company to insure the adoption of the highest attributes of a true real estate professional. In October 2008, James went on through a 2 month educational process to earn his Broker's designation, the highest designation a real estate agent can earn. In 2010, James was named Partner of the firm, currently the youngest Partner by at least 8 years. He looks forward to taking advantage of this opportunity to help others in the firm while continuing to grow as an individual and an established broker.
James enjoys his free time as an avid surfer and surfboard shaper, golfing, and trying to live a life worthy in the eyes of the one he owes everything to, Jesus Christ. Far from being perfect, James is always open to growing as a person both in and out of the work field. He hopes to achieve a lifelong relationship with each of his clients.
As James says,..."I'm not in the business of selling real estate, I'm in the business of building great relationships."
In 2010, James was inducted into the Pacific Business News "Forty Under 40" Class of 2010. He consistently ranks in the top percentile in his firm of 250+ agents, was designated one of three 2008 Salespeople of the Year, and is among the top 5% of all Oahu realtors in sales volume and top 2% of Oahu realtors in number of transactions closed.
